چکیده

The present paper discusses the theoretical studies involved in the development of the differential equations which describe the spontaneous imbibition of water by an oil-saturated rock. The basic assumption underlying in the present investigation is that the oil and water form two immiscible liquid phases and the latter represents preferentially wetting phase. The Saturation of injected water is calculated by Adomian Decomposition Technique for Nonlinear differential equation of Imbibition phenomena under assumption that Saturation is decomposed in to saturation of different fingers. Graphical illustration has been done by Mathematica 7.0.

Series Solution for Porous Medium Equation Arising in Fingero-Imbibition Phenomenon during Oil Recovery Process

In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for a porous medium equation in Fingero-imbibition phenomena arising in double phase flow through porous media during oil recovery process. Fingero-imbibition is a physical phenomenon which represents the simultaneous occurrence of two special phenomenon viz. fingering and imbibitions in a porous media. We obtain a series solution of porous medium e...

An Analytical Solution for One-dimensional Horizontal Imbibition in a Cocurrent Flow

Cocurrent spontaneous imbibition (COCSI) of an aqueous phase into matrix blocks arising from capillary forces is an important mechanism for petroleum recovery from fractured petroleum reservoirs. In this work, the modeling of countercurrent imbibition is used to develop the appropriate scaling equations. Considering the imbibition process and the water and oil movement respectively as the wet p...

Relative permeability and capillary pressure functions of porous media as related to the displacement growth pattern

Visualization experiments of the unsteady immiscible displacement of a fluid by another are performed on glass-etched pore networks of well-controlled morphology by varying the fluid system and flow conditions. The measured transient responses of the fluid saturation and pressure drop across the porous medium are introduced into numerical solvers of the macroscopic two-phase flow equations to e...

Numerical Evaluation of Hydraulic Fracturing Pressure in a Two-Phase Porous Medium

Hydraulic fracturing is a phenomenon in which cracks propagate through the porous medium due to high pore fluid pressure. Hydraulic fracturing appears in different engineering disciplines either as a destructive phenomenon or as a useful technique. Modeling of this phenomenon in isothermal condition requires analysis of soil deformation, crack and pore fluid pressure interactions. In this paper...

Visualizing Multiphase Flow and Trapped Fluid Configurations in a Model Three-Dimensional Porous Medium

We report an approach to fully visualize the flow of two immiscible fluids through a model three-dimensional (3-D) porous medium at pore-scale resolution. Using confocal microscopy, we directly image the drainage of the medium by the nonwetting oil and subsequent imbibition by the wetting fluid. During imbibition, the wetting fluid pinches off threads of oil in the narrow crevices of the medium...
